[lastfm]Lil’ Wayne[/lastfm] can’t catch a break while in jail!!! He gets sued over and over while he’s already in the big house. Check out who’s getting in them pockets now…
As reported by The Hollywood Report…
Rap superstar [lastfm]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] has a lil’ problem on his hands thanks to the discovery of a YouTube video that allegedly shows he perjured himself in a deposition in a multi-million dollar civil case. The claim comes from his former manager Melissa Philipian and the White Tides Entertainment Group.
Four years ago, Philipian sued the rapper, maintaining she had an exclusive agreement to represent him as his manager. According to news reports at the time, Philipian was sacked after Wayne (born Dwayne Carter) became angry about the quality of a hotel room booked for him. Thereafter, Philipian claimed $500,000 in owed commissions and 15 percent of his earnings over the following two years.
During a sworn deposition in the case, the rapper denied having any artist agreement with Philipian and accused her of forging his signature. The case then settled for approximately $375,000.
But the feud continued between the parties — and now [lastfm]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] and his entourage (including Universal Music Group) have been served with a new lawsuit from the same woman alleging fraud, defamation, tortious interference, breach of contract and civil conspiracy. At the heart of the allegations is a video found on YouTube that allegedly shows contradictory comments made by [lastfm]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] some years back.
The video allegedly is of an old interview with [lastfm]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] wherein he discusses his professional relationship with Philipian, allegedly acknowledging her as his manager and saying she was the best thing that had happened to his career. He then allegedly goes through a laundry list of accomplishments that Philipian achieved on his behalf.
Philipian believes this is proof that Lil Wayne lied and deprived her of her share of his $200 million in earnings. She’s now claiming millions of dollars in damages.
According to the complaint filed in Florida District Court, [lastfm]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] blacklisted Philipian in his circle, telling associates and others to stop doing business with her. She alleges that after the settlement was signed, the rapper spread lies that Philipian stole money from him and filed her original lawsuit as an extortion scam.
Last year, Philipian signed a new artist, [lastfm]Tyga[/lastfm], to her roster of clients. Allegedly, Philipian advanced him $7,000, but [lastfm]Tyga[/lastfm] refused to work with her after being told by [lastfm]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] that he “would not do business with anyone who does business with Philipian.”
Reps for [lastfm]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] couldn’t be reached for comment.
DAMN!!! Watch what you be putting on YouTube. Isn’t it odd she is still searching 4 years later for ways to get her money. SMH.
