According to ESPN.COM, sources close to the Donovan McNabb camp have confirmed that the Washington Redskins have signed the Super Bowl Champion and five-time NFC Champion quarterback to a five-year, $78 million extension – that could be worth up to $88 million. $40 million of the deal is guaranteed.
[photogallerylink id=41966 align=right]The move comes as a surprise to many in light of head coach Mike Shanahan’s decision to bench McNabb at the end of the Redskins’ 37-25 loss to the Detroit Lions because he didn’t have a grasp of the team’s two-minute offense.
The Redskins face McNabb’s former team, the Philadelphia Eagles tonight at FedEx Field. McNabb led the Skins to a 17-12 win over the Eagles in Philadelphia Oct 3rd.
