I remembr the 1st time I heard “Cat in the hat”, I was really young. Over the years that voice became common to me. It was like, you expected to hear that voice when you went to the go-go. There was nothing like partying with Benny!! He will ne truly missed. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

GoGo will never be the same. Benny was that dude! Back in the day if you went to see Benny and the Masters or RE in the Benny era, you knew you were in for some crankin gogo. These days you’d go to see Chuck and wait for Benny to come on to turn it out! I’m glad I got to holla at him one last time after the Chuck show Saturday. You will be missed my man!

My deepest condolences to the family. As a fellow Ballou Knight Class of 1981 we all mourn Lil Benny’s passing. My last memories of Benny are from last week on the TJMS cruise. Benny had the boat rockin ! R.I.P. my brother .

I remember listening to Rare Essence on my back porch as they practiced for the gig that was lined up for that night. As a Washingtonian, that memory will always be in my heart. I have “Cat in the Hat” in my iPod, gonna play it one more time for Lil Benny. RIP.

Wow. First I want to say to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Benny is with Jesus Christ right now. I grew up knowing who Benny was and respected R.E. completely. I appreciated their music because it was real to me. Although I don’t listen to secular music anymore R.E. is a band I will never forget and Benny’s presence on stage was incredible! His energy was unforgettable. A voice and brass that you could recognize when you heard it just like R.E. you knew when they were playing didn’t have to look on stage because you just knew.
