New Label + New look = a No. 1 album.
R&B songstress Jill Scott is celebrating a career milestone after logging her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with her fourth effort ‘The Light of the Sun.’ The set sold 135,000 copies, beating out chart topper Adele and indie band Bon Iver.
Scott’s closest feat to a No. 1 debut was her 2004 effort ‘Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2,’ which debut at No. 3 on the coveted chart.
The Light of the Sun is lead by the first single “So In Love,” a duet with crooner Anthony Hamilton, which continues to climb the urban charts.
To continue supporting the new project, Scott will hit the road this summer for her “Summer Block Party” tour with special guests Anthony Hamilton, Mint Condition, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Doug E. Fresh and more.
