The J Dilla Tribute & Fundraiser aka DC Loves Dilla was created after the untimely passing of James “J Dilla” Yancey in the Spring of 2006.

Jon Laine (music director), Brent Munch Joseph (DJ, Cultural Curator) and the rest of the DC Loves Dilla massive lent their collective talents to this musical homage. The spirit of this beloved trackmaster lives on.

When you enter the DC Loves Dilla Tribute, you enter a space…sacred and revered by music-lovers and hip-hop aficionados. You enter a space where creativity is king. A space where respect for the microphone is trumped by only the music on which the lyrics are laid.
