Beacon House is a nonsectarian, neighborhood-based organization that supports at-risk youth and families of the Edgewood Terrace community in Ward 5 of Washington, DC. Beacon House feeds, tutors, mentors and provides athletic opportunities to roughly 500 low-income children and youth per year. Founded in 1991, Beacon House provides a wide range of opportunities for learning to increase the likelihood of high school graduation, and eventual involvement in higher education, vocational training, or other productive adult paths.
Beacon House relies on the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporations to fund its programs. In order to send 30 children and coaches to Orlando to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Beacon House must raise $50,000 prior to December 2nd. Beacon House is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. To make a donation, please visit Beacon House’s web site: www.beaconhousedc.org
