[photogallerylink id=80917 align=left]Chicago Bears wide receiver Sam Hurd has been held in federal custody since Wednesday night after he allegedly attempted to purchase more than a pound of cocaine from an undercover agent in order to set up a major drug distribution network in the Chicago area.
Hurd was busted after meeting with an undercover agent at a steakhouse in Rosemont, Ill, a suburb of Chicago. According to the criminal complaint, Hurd told the agent he was interested in buying five to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana weekly to distribute across the Chicago area. Hurd allegedly told the agent he and another person were already distributing approximately four kilos of cocaine weekly in Chicago, but needed a new supplier with excess to more drugs.
If convicted, he can face 40 years in prison and a 2 million dollar fine. SMH!
He spent five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys – signed a three- year deal with the Bears on July 29 for a reported $5.15 million, including a $1.35 million signing bonus and base pay this season of $685,000.
So it’s not like he was in need of the money!! Dummy!
