“Stop raping them and stop starving them. That’s all that we ask,” He commented.
Clooney has been on the Hill since his tour of Sudan two days ago.
The Guardian also reported that on Wednesday Clooney, “testified in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the subject of violence in the Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan, a state in Sudan near its border with newly independent South Sudan.”
The actor has also requested that US officials pressure the Chinese government to force the Sudanese government to “open the southern region of the country to relief efforts,” because massive amounts of the region’s people could “face starvation” as the rainy season approaches.
Clooney also met President Barack Obama this past Wednesday to inform him about his worries for the Sudanese people. The Guardian reported that Clooney mentioned the President,
“[promising] to press Chinese president Hu Jintao on the issue at an upcoming bilateral meeting.”
