Happy Monday DMV! This week, like every other week, I have you covered with a little bit of this and a little bit of that going down in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Need something to do? Peace Week
Starting Monday, March 26
Bowie State University

Today marks the one-month anniversary of the killing of 16-year-old Trayvon Martin, and there are rallies and demonstrations all over the country. What many are naming an assassination on the basis of race, Martin’s death has sparked protests everywhere to bring his killer to justice. According to The Baltimore Sun, Bowie State University will feature a conversation about the tragedy this week as part of its Peace Week 2012.  For more information, read the article here.

Indulj Restaurant and Lounge

This week join WPGC’s own Sunni and the City along with The Fab Empire as they host a charity event to provide young girls from low-income families with prom dresses. For admission, bring a dress or a cash donation and help make a high schooler’s prom dream come true. This event will take place from 6-9pm.

The Hamilton

After the recent release and success of her latest album The MF Life, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Melanie Fiona[/lastfm] will grace the DMV with her voice and presence at The Hamilton. The Hamilton is a restaurant in Northwest, DC that is open 24/7 featuring food, drinks and live musical performances.

Community Art Show
Now Through April 14
National Cherry Blossom Festival

As part of the 100-year anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in The District, students from DC public and charter schools are encouraged to participate in the 2012 Youth Art Contest and Community Art Show by submitting their very own masterpieces.  The artwork will be displayed from 10am-5:30pm daily. Let’s support our youth and the arts, everyone!

There is so much to do this week in the DMV! Don’t waste your days sitting in the house. Get out, get involved and have some fun!
