The special airs next Wednesday on April 25.
In the special’s commercial Brandy states, “The lie about being married was the fall of my career. Everything changed.”
Back in 2003 Brandy announced that had gotten married the year prior, and is now pregnant. Brandy had a baby girl that June and her fans were able to watch her along the process in a reality series featuring her and Robert titled, “Brandy: A Special Delivery”.
Many years had passed, after they announced their divorce, when Brandy told the media she never loved Robert, and their marriage was fake. Brandy came on the Tyra Banks show confessing:
“I felt the need to lie about it because at the time I was 23 years old, I had this good girl image, this role model image and I was taught that you should be married before you have a child. I felt the pressure of what people would think and disappointing little girls. I felt responsible because young girls looked up to me and I didn’t want to disappoint them. I was afraid.”
