2 Chainz jumped on Drake’s Club Paradise tour earlier this week, performing in front of sold-out arenas While he is swinging with the biggest rap tour of the summer, he refuses to be upstaged.
“I’m not rehearsing at all,” he told CBS Local. “It’s a lifestyle. I’ve done 200 shows since last year. I’m confident in my performance skills.”
While he insists that he’s not over-thinking his performance, Chainz does have a strategy.
“You want to use your time wisely, you want it to be entertainment,” he said. “For me, it doesn’t take a lot of thinking, this is something I do. It’s just about me cutting [down my set] and still having that excitement and giving people what they want.”
Performing alongside some of the hottest rappers in the game creates a friendly competition and 2 Chainz intends to come out on top.
“The mind behind it is still kill-kill-kill, murder-murder,” he said. “But at the same time, it’s not stressful for me. I don’t have to set time aside. I’m an artist, I have my own choreography skills. I don’t have to get any dance moves together. I pray before every show I go out there and I rock.”
On Tuesday (April 8), police cut headliner Drake‘s set short in Irvine, CA. The show reportedly went beyond its scheduled time. 2 Chainz performed earlier in the evening. The extended version of the tour kicked off on Monday and will continue throughout June. –Erik Parker, CBS Local
