Mike Posner On Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend”: “We Made It Sound Dope”
“Cooler Than Me” singer Mike Posner called in to B96/ Chicago this morning from Detroit while visiting his parents, who “hug and kiss him a thousand times” when he comes home.
Anyone who has seen Mike Posner perform knows that they can expect a great show. Mike explained his mentality about singing live. “I try to bring the ruckus as much as I can. I’m there to have an absolute blast and make sure everybody there is feeling better then they did before I walked on that stage.”
Posner has had a pretty big year so far. He’s been working with fellow Detroit native Austin Mahone, and wrote his “Say Somthin'” single with him. He can also add Big Time Rush’s new song “Windows Down” to the long list of songs he has written. Posner also penned the song that’s making every girl’s head explode right now, Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend.”
How did Mike hook up with Bieber? Posner shared, “I’ve been friends with Justin’s manager Scooter [Braun] for a really long time, since I was going to school at Duke. I ran into him in LA at a Clippers game and I told him, ‘I think you should give me a shot to write on this album. I think I’ll really kill it.’ He did, and we made it sound dope. I’m very proud of that song.”
Mike Posner has a great career ahead of him, making music for himself and fellow artists. At the end of the day, he knows how lucky his is to be living his dream. “I’m so grateful and so blessed to be able to make music, and make money doing it.”
