Believe it or not, it’s finally here.
Justin Bieber’s new CD, “Believe” drops Tuesday with thirteen new tracks, including the hit single “Boyfriend,” featuring Asher Roth, 2 Chainz and Mac Miller. With other superstars like Ludacris, Nicki Minaj, Drake and Big Sean teaming up for the CD, it’s a far cry from the bubblegum days of “Baby.”
Even Bieber’s image outside the studio has changed. Lately, he’s been spending lots of time hanging around boxing champions Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather. Why the big change?
Bieber shrugs it off. “That’s just me,” he says. “Those are people that I just like and hang around with..”
Besides his close circle of friends, Bieber sticks close to his crew and his family. He relies on both to keep his career on track, and to keep him grounded. “They definitely keep me humble,” he says . “You can’t have people always in your ear saying you’re great and not telling you ‘no,’ because you have to have those people around you that are just real with you.”
Being real means facing challenges – like aging. Bieber first hit the music scene at 13, and his voice has changed significantly since then. Fans can easily tell the difference between the “early” and “later” versions of his music.
But it “isn’t changing anymore,’ says Bieber. “It kind of went through that transitional phase. My voice, my tone because I’m getting older is going to change – but as far as where my voice is sitting, it’s definitely where it is for the long haul.”
With 15 million albums sold, Justin Bieber is currently ranked #3 on Forbes’ most powerful celebrity list, and “Believe” promises to keep him at the top. But who does the most power young celebrity like to listen to?
He had to give that some thought, but Bieber finally landed on “Big Sean, Lil Wayne and Kanye West.” Future CD collaboration? Perhaps. For right now, just “Believe.”
