The summer mixtape blitz continues with a string of underground projects ranging from a female rapper hailing from Australia to a street-praised Miami spitter.
First up is T.I. protégé Iggy Azalea, the much talked about rap chick representing the land Down Under. The controversial act drops her free EP, Glory, today (July 31). With a buzz surrounding Iggy’s first official video, “Murda Bizness” (see video here), in which the 22-year-old bombshell plays a sneering pageant mom who pushes her child to destroy the competition, Grand Hustle’s newest star is poised to deliver on the hype.
August 1 kicks off with the release of Odd Future affiliate Domo Genesis’ No Idols. The project is produced entirely by acclaimed beatman The Alchemist (Mobb Deep, Lil Wayne, Raekwon).
The Cool Kids member Sir Michael Rocks unleashes his solo effort Lao Of Lux the day after and on August 15 Fred the Godson finally drops his much delayed mixtape Gordo Frederico.
And finally, Miami’s own Ace Hood releases Body Bag Vol. 2. The DJ Khaled protege, who enjoyed mainstream success with the 2011 anthem “Hustle Hard,” drops his two-fisted mixtape on August 17. —Keith Murphy, CBS Local
