R. Kelly Reloads ‘Trapped In The Closet’: “I Just Did 30 Chapters”
R. Kelly is ready to deliver the goods. After claiming last December that he would be adding 32 more chapters to his best-selling operatic R&B saga “Trapped In The Closest,” the soul superstar recently revealed that he is ready for his return to the lighthearted musical.
According to the Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and producer, the re-up serves as a dedication to his loyal supporters.
“I’m so glad to know there are a lot of fans still waiting to find out what the package is, and I’m coming, you guys,” he told MTV. “In four weeks, I just did 30 chapters of ‘Trapped in the Closet’ and I’m proud of it; I’m very excited about it because it took on a life of its own. It took me over.”
The original first five chapters of “Trapped In The Closet” were released in 2005 on the artist’s TP.3 Reloaded album. But the infamous soap opera, which detailed tales of infidelity, drama, deceit, romance and comedy, reached epic levels of popularity and spoofing when Kelly transformed the story into a video series.
In 2007 he released a best-selling DVD entitled Trapped in the Closet that featured twelve chapters, including the original five. In March, Kelly said he would drop 22 new videos to go along with the series. Just as he did with his 2007 version of the Trapped in the Closet DVD, chapters from the new series will premiere on the Independent Film Channel (IFC) later this year.
