Reports of a brawl between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy put a black eye in the BET Hip-Hop Awards coverage. Now new videos have emerged of Ross and Jeezy’s fracas as well as a clip of Ross’ protege Gunplay that shows the Maybach Music rapper engaged in fight outside the venue.
The video of Ross and Jeezy blow-up that happened backstage, is difficult to make out. But a shirtless Ross is seen walking away as police officers separate the two camps. [See clip here.]
In another fight clip from the evening, Gunplay can be seen chasing after a man on his knees and connecting with a few blows before being pepper sprayed by police. [See video here]
The amateur videographer can be heard offering his commentary of the incident.
“They jumped that n**** and he still hit they a**,” he said. “They hit him though, why he getting arrested? It was somebody, somebody in 50 [Cent’s] crew.”
While many have pointed to associates of 50 Cent as participants in the parking lot brawl, 50 put aside his differences with Bronx rapper Fat Joe for a taped tribute to deceased music manager Chris Lighty, with whom both rappers had ties.
On Sunday (September 30) 50 was still promoting the tribute, even suggesting that he and Joe could possibly record together in the future.

The network went into damage control, issuing a statement on the eve of the show.
“BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta,” the statement read. “For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”
The show will be aired on Tuesday, October 9. —E. Parker, CBS Local
