Trey Songz‘s new album, Chapter V, is for lovers not fighters. With the set featuring songs with feuding rappers Young Jeezy and Rick Ross, Trey recently expressed his hopes that they move past their BET Hip-Hop Awards brawl.

The number seven and eight tracks on Chapter V feature Young Jeezy (“Hail Mary”) and Rick Ross (“Don’t Be Scared”) respectively. So it is no wonder that Trey is not choosing sides in the beef.

“I actually wasn’t there to see that,” Trey told DJ D-Strong from 102 JAMZ. “But I got close ties with both of them. They are both bosses. People bump heads in real life. And it definitely happens in entertainment. I hope they get it back together and get it straight. But if they don’t it’s men. We’re not always going to agree.”

As CBS previously reported, there was a confrontation between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy backstage at BET Hip-Hop Awards. Video clips later emerged of Ross and Jeezy’s fracas as well as a clip of Ross’ protege Gunplay that shows the Maybach Music rapper engaged in fight outside the venue.

While Trey was not at the Awards, the news traveld.

“I heard it was some pushing and shoving,” he said, of the confrontation between Jeezy and Ross. “They’re both my men. I ain’t taking no sides in none of that. I hope that men can be above it and work as professionals.”

Songz recently announced his upcoming tour, that will go to the U.K. starting in Birmingham on January 27th. –E. Parker, CBS Local
