Ice Cube finds Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney too cold for office. The West Coast rap legend and Hollywood heavyweight described the former Massachusetts governor as a dishonest car salesman.
“He just reminds me of somebody who’s trying to sell me a Mercedes Benz,” Cube told Rolling Stone. “He’ll tell me that it looks good on me and this is my color and I can afford it and everything, just to get the sale. It’s astonishing that people are buying into that at the rate they are.”
Of course, political talk is nothing new to Cube. For over two decades, the veteran hip-hop icon and original member of N.W.A. has released some of the genre’s most thought-provoking work. With such acclaimed albums as AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted (1990), Death Certificate (1991), The Predator (1992), and Lethal Injection (1993), Ice Cube has long been an outspoken voice.
His latest politically minded single “Everythang’s Corrupt,” the title track to his upcoming 2013 album, takes on the hypocrisy that runs through everyday American life. Cube also believes President Barack Obama deserves re-election in the current atmosphere of what he calls “a do-nothing Congress and the Party of No.”
“We have to deal with that,” Cube explained, adding that he hopes Obama will deal with job issues and rising poverty rates. “We’re never gonna give what we need to give as a country if some of our citizens are lower than Third World.”—Keith Murphy, CBS Local
