This week in Rewind, The Game revealed the mystery holy man on his Jesus Piece cover; the plot to kill Justin Bieber was foiled; the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame found a friend in rap rebels; and the LAPD speaks up after Notorious B.I.G.‘s autopsy leak.
Remember when we reported on Game’s Jesus Piece album cover controversy? The deluxe cover included an image of Jesus with a red bandana covering his mouth, a gold Jesus medallion around his neck and a tatted tear drop on his cheek.
Now Game says the image of the gangster Messiah is actually Rick James in a Jesus costume.
While the Game was praising Rick James, some bad guys were plotting to kill Justin Bieber. According to reports, one of the conspirators had a tattoo of the Biebz on his leg and wanted the singer castrated and strangled with a paisley tie.
Also this week in morbid news, the LAPD released the autopsy report of the Notorious B.I.G. and followed up with an apology to the family. The homicide remains unsolved.
In more celebratory news, Public Enemy became the fourth rap group to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Twenty-five years after challenging Elvis Presley’s hero status on their 1989 hit “Fight the Power,” P.E. will be sharing the same rarified air as EP as Hall of Fame inductees.
To add to the good-time mood, some of the biggest musicians, including Paul McCartney, Billy Joel and Alicia Keys, came together for the “12-12-12” Hurricane Sandy tribute. Leave it to Kanye West to steal the show, when he rushed onto stage donning a leather skirt.
