Jennifer Hudson Celebrates Return Of Destiny’s Child, But Not ‘American Idol’
While promoting her new film, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete, at the Sundance Film Festival, Jennifer Hudson had some kind words for the return of Destiny’s Child. But unfortunately, didn’t show the same excitement for American Idol.
JHud, who came in seventh during the third season of Idol, thinks the show should quit while it’s ahead, according to Celebuzz.
“Everything has its time,” she said. “American Idol has changed the face of television. So, not everyone can say that. And it’s always been a phenomenon. I’m proud to have come from American Idol, so I just say, ‘Go out on top.’ “
Though Destiny’s Child stopped making music in 2004, when they were still on top, she thinks their reunion is a good thing. In fact it’s a dream come true for the singer, who grew up listening to the girl group and then later got a chance to star with Beyoncé in Dreamgirls.
“I am the biggest Destiny’s Child — Beyoncé, Kelly, Michelle, all of them — fan in the world. I’m excited about it,” she told MTV News. “I’m happy for all of them and cannot wait to hear this album and I love the song ‘Nuclear.’ I get it. I love it.”
Destiny’s new compilation album, Love Songs, featuring the new song “Nuclear,” will be out January 29.
The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete, a coming of age story about two inner city kids, also features Jordin Sparks and was produced by Alicia Keys. No release date for the film has been announced as of yet.
Do you agree with Jennifer on American Idol, should it end after this season?
