LANHAM, Md. (CBS/WPGC) – It took a while, but with the release of the 2009 Disney film, “The Princess and the Frog,” black children finally found a princess who looks like them.

Actress and singer Anika Noni Rose played the role of “Tiana” in the Disney film.

Tiana is described as “determined and intelligent.”

“I thought it was pretty cool,” Rose said. “I never thought I would see a princess who was African American.”
