LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC/WPGC) - Did you know some pioneers of the hardcore punk movement were black? Bad Brains, a D.C. based punk band, got its start in 1978.

Originally developed as a jazz fusion band, they began to change and adapt a faster, more hardcore sound.

While the band has changed its members through the years, they continue to deliver a unique blend of punk and fast paced reggae.

The band has recorded nine studio albums and recently reunited to play at the Howard theater.

Check back all month for WPGC’s tribute to Black History Month.
