Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena has been sentenced to four months in prison for failure to file his tax returns.
Joe had been charged with evading taxes on nearly $3 million of income between 2007 and 2010, but under a plea agreement with the prosecutors, got the charges reduced to not filing tax returns for only two years.
Joe plead guilty back in December to two counts of failing to file taxes with the IRS in 2007 and 2008.
He was initially looking at two years in prison.
The 42-year-old hip-hop star received his sentencing at a federal court in New Jersey this week.
The rapper is scheduled to turn himself in by Aug. 26.
