With summer in full swing, many — if not most — are either trying to lose a few pounds or working to keep their bodies in good shape.
Well, here is something to think about:
According to a new research study, social media is making us fat?!
I know, I’m guilty of spending at least a couple of hours a day on social media, checking tweets, instagram pics and Facebook.
It’s very normal nowadays to have a case of FOMO … Fear of Missing Out. We don’t wanna turn off our devices in fear we’ll miss what’s happening in the world.
But after reading this article from Style List, I might have to try!
Here is an excerpt:
“People who spent two hours using a device backlit with LED display – such as an iPhone or iPad – had a corresponding dip in melatonin levels. Melatonin is the chemical that prepares your body for sleep, so if your melatonin levels are decreasing, you’re going to have a harder time falling asleep at night. Simply put, you’re losing sleep.”
And when we lose sleep, we pack on extra pounds because of the “significant link between sleep loss and weight gain.”
"When you're awake for longer periods of time, you've got more time to eat, and we all know late night snacking never means you're reaching for veggies over a bag of chips."
