More than a week after her son’s near-drowning in a family pool, Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Raymond sat down for an interview with “Good Morning America” to tell her side of story.
Raymond requested an emergency custody hearing a day after the former couple’s 5-year-old son got caught in a pool drain while in the care of Usher’s aunt in Atlanta.
A judge dismissed her request for decision-making authority after hearing from both sides in court.
Usher was allowed to retain primary custody of Usher V and 4-year-old Naviyd Ely.

On her reaction to the incident
“I was mad because I was like ‘How did this even happen? Who was watching him? Why was my son under water for nearly 3 minutes?”
On where she was when she receive the call
“I was at a dental appointment. He doesn’t call me regularly, so when I saw his number come up. I immediately jumped up because I figured he has the boys. I need to get this.”
On whether she thinks Usher is at fault
“I didn’t blame Usher for it. I was just angry that it happened on his watch, because while accidents happen, never have my children been injured on my watch.”
