MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — A four-year-old boy was killed and several others were injured in a fire at an apartment complex in Montgomery County, authorities say.

Firefighters were called to Cider Mill Apartments in the 18200 block of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village just after 4 p.m. Wednesday. The two-alarm blaze engulfed a garden-style apartment.

Authorities say one person was trapped on a third-floor balcony and had to be rescued by firefighters who used a ladder to reach him. He was transported to a local specialty center with life-threatening injuries.

A second man was transported to a local specialty center with unknown injuries. Two children were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
