LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Jay Gruden will be the next head coach of the Washington Redskins.

The deal comes following a dinner Tuesday night and a formal interview Wednesday at Redskins Park.

Reports surfaced early Thursday morning the two sides were in the final stages of working out an agreement that would make the 46-year-old the next head coach of the team.

At the time, Mark Maske of the Washington Postreported the two sides had “made progress” toward reaching an agreement. He later added the deal was expected to be finalized barring any late snags.

Gruden will leave his job as offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals. He previously interviewed with the Tennessee Titans and was scheduled to meet with the Minnesota Vikings today. That meeting has since been cancelled.
