Madonna caused a major uproar this week after posting a picture to her Instagram account that contained crude and racial language.  In the now removed photo, Madonna showed off 13-year-old son Rocco boxing with a caption that read, “No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disni**a.”  According to TMZ, the photo was posted Friday night.

It wasn’t long before Madonna’s one million followers began to comment and criticize the singer’s wording, causing her to remove the photo shortly thereafter.  But leave it to Madonna not to take criticism lying down.  She reposted the photo with a new caption that read,”Ok let me start this again. #get off of my d*** haters!”

The following day, Madonna released an apology to E! Online about the use of her language.   “I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N-word on Instagram,” she said in the statement. “It was not meant as a racial slur… I am not a racist.”  She continued, asking for forgiveness:  “There’s no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention… It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white.  I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me.”

Both versions of the photo have since been removed.
