While we haven’t heard much from D’Angelo since he canceled a few of his shows last year due to a “medical emergency,” that doesn’t mean a comeback is completely out of the question. In fact, it looks like new music is on the way.
Yesterday (Jan. 21), three clips surfaced on YouTube uploaded by Russell Elevado, D’Angelo’s engineer and producer, which gives D’Angelo fans some hopeful proof. The second studio teaser clip that surfaced includes bassist Pino Palladino playing to the camera. Meanwhile, the third studio teaser gives a little more behind-the-scenes take within the studio.
Since releasing his second album, Voodoo, in 2000, D’Angelo has kept a low profile. He has been working on a third album with Questlove who told Rolling Stone the record is “totally brilliant” and is probably his “generation’s version of Sly [and the Family Stone’s] There’s a Riot Goin’ On.”
