It’s the punch heard around the world. Earlier this month, Kanye West made headlines when he allegedly punched a teen who was spouting racial slurs at fiancée Kim Kardashian. Now, reports are saying he settled with 18-year-old boy for a hefty $250,000, in an effort to keep the case from going to public trial.
On Jan. 13, Kardashian visited a Beverly Hills chiropractor and claimed the teen hurled derogatory and racial slurs at her in the waiting room. Reports are saying West, upon hearing what the teen did, hit him 30 times in an effort to protect his fiancée. Video surfaced not long after the altercation showing the teen skipping up the steps of the office and trying to talk to the star while she walked. Soon after, the teen pressed charges against West for assault and Kardashian mimicked by pressing charges against the 18-year-old for making threats.
But before the case could make it to trial, West and the teen settled out of court for $250,000, just a fraction of the six-figure sum he was originally seeking.
This isn’t the first altercation West has been involved in. Back in July 2013, he was charged with criminal battery and attempted theft after getting into a fight with a photographer at LAX airport and allegedly causing the man to be crutches-bound for two months. This happened in the midst of an array of Twitter rants, onstage rants and negative comments to the press.
