Samuel L. Jackson was on KTLA in Los Angeles on Monday to talk about his new movie RoboCop and the interview went on a completely different path when reporter Sam Rubin made a massive mistake.
Maybe he needed glasses (or Wikipedia) because Rubin confused Samuel L. Jackson with Laurence Fishburne on live television. He began the interview asking him about his Super Bowl commercial. FishburneT
Of course Jackson had to set the reporter straight in a special way. “We may all be black and famous but we don’t all look alike,” he scolded the man who was growing redder as the report continued. But Jackson wouldn’t let it live there, he kept adding funny quips which made the poor man almost want to crawl under his seat. “There must be a very short line for your job,” he joked.
Much of the interview is Rubin trying to dig himself out of the massive hole but all questions led straight back to his mix-up. Soon after, Rubin issued an apology on KTLA’s website: “ First and foremost, I do know who Samuel L. Jackson is. I’ve interviewed him several times over the years, but never quite like the conversation we just had… I very much apologize to Samuel L. Jackson and anyone else who was offended for what was a very amateur mistake.”
