Hip-hop music often comes saddled with unfortunate stereotypes, including the notion that it is simply a soundtrack for the gun violence that’s rampant in the city streets of America.

Rap’s bass-rattling beats are at the center of Florida’s contentious Michael Dunn “loud music” trial, where the 47-year-old was convicted of three counts of attempted murder in the shooting death of teenager Jordan Davis inside a parked car, claiming self-defense when he saw the victim produce a gun (the jury deadlocked on the first-degree murder charge. No gun was found in the car).

More for the fun of it though, Pigeons and Planes created a video supercut of rappers imitating gun sounds with their voices (a virtual “Gunomatopoeia” if you will).
