Kanye West‘s engagement with Kim Kardashian has been a media circus from the moment he got down on one knee, but the extravagant rapper had a serious moment during a recent show.
During a performance at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Casino on Friday, Feb. 21, West took the time when he usually rants to the audience to talk about his roller-coaster life and the one thing that he regrets most.
“I made some mistakes and I’ve made some accomplishments. There’s only one thing I regret,” he said to the crowd. “There’s only one thing I wish I could change out of everything that’s ever happened. I wish that my mother could’ve met my daughter.”
North West was born on June 15, 2013, six years after his mother passed away from cosmetic surgery complications and medical issues. The “Bound 2” rapper was raised solely by his mother and he credits much of his success to her.
Another milestone he won’t share with his mother is his upcoming nuptials to Kim Kardashian. In a recent interview, she admits the wedding will be sometime this year in Paris, France. While the theme, guest list and size is still under wraps, she admits West is very vocal on the things he likes and doesn’t like. But she assures the world it’s a joint effort. “There’s certain things I’m like, ‘I know you’re going to hate the seating chart, so I’ll take care of this,'” she told Ryan Seacrest in an interview. “And then there’s some things that are really important to him. [But] the seating chart is like death.”
West proposed to Kardashian on her birthday, Oct. 21, 2013.
