Akon’s Money Troubles Worsening, Third Legal Claim This Year
This is not the year for Akon.
In the last six months, Akon has been hit with three lawsuits asking for thousands of dollars each. The latest legal issue for the “Smack That” rapper comes from an Atlanta-based electrical company who claims they were never paid for labor and materials . They filed a lien notice to the tune of $95,000, plus interest.
Earlier this week, Australian entrepreneur Patrick Grove asked for his $150,000 back after he pre-paid the rapper to appear at his birthday party but never showed. Grove is suing for the initial payment plus damages.
But that’s not where it ends for Akon. This past January, he was sued by Egyptian singer Tamer Hosney for $300,000 after Akon promised to supply Pitbull for a collaboration on Hosny’s song “Arabian Knight” plus a video appearance and never followed through.
No word if these cases will make the ranks in the legal system but so far, Akon has not paid any of the aforementioned companies or people.
