After serving nearly three years in jail for a 2007 attack against Atlanta Falcons cheerleader and waitress Shayla Stevens, an Atlanta jury has ruled that Da Brat pay $6.4 million in damages for the assault.

The attack happened at Studio 72 nightclub in Atlanta when Stevens claimed Da Brat attacked her and hit her in the head with a rum bottle when she tried to get her manager after an altercation.

Da Brat ended up pleading guilty to aggravated assault and was ordered to pay $3.7 million in compensatory damages and an additional $2.7 million in punitive damages to the woman.

“She has a brain injury and is a brain injury survivor,” Mark Link, attorney for Stevens, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It’s not something that will ever go away. She has a scar on her face. She had so much going for her and for it come to an abrupt stop because of this attack.”
