Washinton Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall just signed on for another four years with the team and he’s hoping for super-stardom this year.
Going into his 11th year in the league, he’s hoping to push the team into the Playoffs for the next four years. It was a bumpy 2013 season for the Redskins, who only racked in three wins throughout the year. Now, he’s explaining why the chemistry between the team didn’t play out on the field.
“Over the past couple years we beat the Super Bowl champs but for some reason we haven’t been able to put it together at the right time to go on runs… and play consistent,” he says to Herkules on WPGC. “Anything you want to be great at takes time, takes progress, takes work.”
It’s that dedication and inspiration he thinks will push the team to greatness this season. “I still feel like I’m one of the best shut-down corners in the league,” he admits, continuing to explain that it has always been his biggest dream to play for the Redskins. Now the dream is a reality and he’s giving advice to other amateur football players who want to hit the professional league.
“I probably was one of the best back then, but I didn’t start off one of the best,” he says. “Just keep fighting for it.” Hall spent his time in high school and college around people who “kept their head on straight” and steered clear of bad influences. He was determined to change jos life path after his brother was gunned down in Virginia when he was 14-years-old.
“He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time,” the cornerback explains, admitting he started the DeAngelo Hall Foundation to promote violence prevention. The best advice he could give anyone, he says, is “don’t retaliate, talk it out and deal with the issues, don’t be violent.”
He’s even willing to talk to his fans who are having any issues or difficulties on Twitter, a social site he gave up on awhile ago but has recently started up again. He spends his day interacting with fans, responding back, talking to friends and family and even doing some giveaways. Fans can follow him at @DeangeloHall23.
