Mya Opens Up About Relationship Double Standards & Sexting
Mya has been pretty quite on the music front lately, but the singer is opening up about her new With Love EP and why dating in the celebrity world is difficult. In fact, dating in general is difficult.
She talked with Blogxilla this week in a candid interview about her personal life and why sexting is cheating, no matter what.
“All of those girls that you text on your phone right now and sending all kinds of crazy videos and poses, that’s cheating,” she admits during the interview before going on to explain why it’s a double standard between men and women. “If you found any of that in my phone, because you voiced that you don’t want to find even a guy’s name that you might know in my phone, then what you’re doing is cheating times 10.”
But don’t get the “It’s All About Me” singer wrong, she thinks it’s just fine to look at and admire a female as she finds them beautiful beings. But she asks men not to create the double standard and to understand it’s a two-way street. If he can look, she can look.
Even with her relationship advice, Mya finds it hard to date in the entertainment world for one reason alone: trust. How do you find that one guy who won’t use you, your influence, your money or your connections? Even worse, how do you find a guy who won’t insinuate you’re stepping out when you’re busy making music?
“When I’m in the studio for 72 hours, in my pajamas, and I haven’t taken a shower and I’m engineering and nobody’s there, you shouldn’t be accusing me of things that are not happening,” she admits.
But it’s not all bad for the singer. She’s currently working on three projects in the studio including her next full length album. Additionally, she’s slated to join the cast of an upcoming action movie.
