Twenty-four hours ago, ex-D.C. Mayor Marion Barry was released from a center where he spent 16 days working to get his mobility back after difficulties with diabetes and now he’s celebrating his 78th birthday the right way, by listening to WPGC.

An avid listener and current councilman for Ward 8 in the District, Barry spent the last few weeks at Medstar National Rehabilitation Network fighting complications from diabetes.  In addition to diabetes, he has survived prostate cancer and kidney failure, undergoing a transplant five years ago.

March 6 marks the councilman’s 78th birthday and to celebrate, he only had one request:

Previously, Barry had gone public with his admiration of the new go-go version of Lorde‘s single “Royals” from DJ Dyn-o-Mite, played exclusively on WPGC.  Yesterday, he tweeted that he will be returning home from his health scare by posting Diddy‘s song “Coming Home” featuring Skylar Grey.
