Kanye West Pleads ‘No Contest’ to Misdemeanor Battery
Kanye West is back in court today over the photographer assault case. This pretrial hearing decides whether West will accept a plea deal or go to trial.
Here’s a quick refresher on what happened: last July, a photographer claimed West assaulted him at LAX airport. Since then, West has pleaded not guilty to criminal battery and attempted grand theft.
Photos show West in a physical exchange with the photographer but he pleads not guilty.
Today, West pleaded “no contest” to misdemeanor battery.
“I believe Kanye West should be sent to jail,” the photographer said during the pretrial hearing.
At the end of the hearing, the judge ruled West to complete 250 hours of community service, 24 months probation, 24 private therapy sessions for anger management and one day in county jail. The judge also ruled that West was to make monetary restitution of an undisclosed amount to all victims, which will be disclosed on June 17, 2014.
