Rapper Schoolboy Q wants other rappers to quit bad-mouthing GRAMMY-wining rapper Macklemore, according to a recent interview in The Source.

Earlier this year, Macklemore texted Kendrick Lamar to apologize for “robbing” him of the Best Rap Album GRAMMY, which soon caused backlash from other rappers.  In February, Drake commented, “That sh– was wack as f–k,” to Rolling Stone magazine. Drake was also nominated in the Best Rap Album category.

According to MTV News, Lamar admitted, “That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude.”

Lamar continued, “However it panned out, I wish him much success.  He touched people’s souls, and no one can take that away.  Not everyone gets that [opportunity].”

During a recent interview with The Source, Q addresses Macklemore’s apology to Kendrick Lamar, saying, “All these rappers talking sh– about Macklemore because of the text, but they wouldn’t be saying that sh– if I sent the text out.” He continues, “They wouldn’t say nothing.  He made a brand of music that appealed to more people than me, Hov (Jay Z), Kanye (West) and Kendrick (Lamar). “

Schoolboy Q collaborated on Macklemore’s song, “White Walls.”

The rest of the interview focused on Schoolboy Q’s debut album Oxymoron, which hits stores April 10.
