This weekend, the President’s Cup Nationals takes over Maryland International Raceway for a two-day massive racing event.
Shack Nd Pack talked to one of the racers, Mark Sanders, who is the brains behind the Nitro Funny Car. Sanders drives an 8,000 horesepower, nitro-powered Funny Car capable of speeds in excess of 250 mph and quarter-mile times approached 5.7 seconds. The car is a replica of a 1970 Mustang.
Sanders is currently second in point behind Californian Jason Rupert, who has dominated the IHRA season so far. How does Sanders plan to dethrone Rupert? By killing his lucky streak. Sanders assures his crew is ready to take the race by storm and end up on top.
Tickets are still available for the two-night shoot out on June 13 and 14.
