JAY Z Launches Sports Drink, 40/40 While Mariah Carey Launches Pink Drink, Butterfly
According to Forbes.com, the beverages are currently selling about 1,000 bottles a week and are priced at $1.99.
Mariah Carey’s pink-colored drink, Butterfly, is geared toward women, while JAY Z’s “Arnold Palmer-esque”, lemonade and iced tea flavored sports drink called 40/40, is intended for sports-loving males. Former Def Jam leader Kevin Liles, who now manages Trey Songz and Estelle, presented the business deal to both.
This isn’t JAY Z’s first stint in marketing beverages. The rapper launched D’Ussé, a high-end cognac, in 2012.
The two stars collaborated on Carey’s song “Heartbreaker” in 1999.
