N.W.A. ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Gets Release Date, Cast Photo Revealed

The N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton” revealed its release date and first cast photo on Wednesday.

The movie will showcase the life and career of the legendary rap group N.W.A., comprised of Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, MC Ren, DJ Yella and Ice Cube.

In a smart move, Universal cast Ice Cube’s real life son O’Shea Jackson, Jr. as a younger version of the rapper and actor.  Dr.Dre will be played by Corey Hawkins and Eazy-E will be played by Jason Mitchell.

“Finally found the cast for the NWA movie. Me, Gary Gray, Dre w/ Cube, Eazy & Dre #StraightOuttaCompton coming 8/14/15,” Ice Cube tweeted Wednesday.

Casting is still underway for the final two members of the rap group. “Still looking for our MC Ren and DJ Yella,” Ice Cube tweeted Wednesday.

The movie will be released August 14, 2015.  According to Universal, the movie “tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.”
