It’s been a month since comedian Tracy Morgan was involved in a six car crash in New Jersey that took the life of his friend James McNair and injured several others.
For weeks, he has been rehabilitating from his injuries and on Saturday, July 12, he emerged for the first time since the accident. TMZ has pictures of Morgan as he left an undisclosed rehabilitation center.
Sporting a white t-shirt, new Asics, a gold chain and a bucket hat, Morgan sat in a wheelchair with his right leg wrapped in bandages. During the accident, Morgan broke his femur, four ribs and his nose.
On the day of his release, his publicist issued a statement to the media advising his continued recovery and confirmed the lawsuit against Wal-Mart.
“Tracy has been released from the rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery efforts at home with an aggressive outpatient program,” the statement said. “He asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point. He would also appreciate some privacy during this crucial point in his recovery.”
It continues, “In regards to the reports of a lawsuit, I can confirm that Tracy, along with the other victims of this horrific accident, have filed suit.”
The accident occurred June 7 on the New Jersey turnpike when a semi-driver had gotten tired at the wheel and couldn’t react quickly enough to miss slowed traffic.
The lawsuit is seeking an unspecified amount in damages and a jury trial.
