Just days after filing a lawsuit against Wal-Mart, Tracy Morgan is speaking out for the first time after his month-long journey to recovery. Released from a rehabilitation center on Saturday, he has been spending his days rehabbing a broken leg and multiple broken ribs.
While leaving his New Jersey home Monday morning, he gave a peace sign to photographers with a smile, all while using a walker to climb into an awaiting car. “I’m okay, I feel strong,” he said in a noticeably soft voice. His much thinner appearance a test to the hard journey the past month has been on the comedian.
As the car drove away, he gave thanks to everyone for support. “Love you, thank you very much. Appreciate it,” he said to passing photographers.
On June 7, Morgan and several of his friends were involved in a deadly crash leaving fellow comedian James McNair dead and several injured. The cause of the accident was found to be an exhausted Wal-Mart truck driver who couldn’t deter from slowed traffic fast enough.
