Coming off the blockbuster movie The Help, director Tate Taylor has done it again with this biopic of soul brother No. 1, James Brown.

Get On Up features the amazing journey of James Brown, one of America’s greatest musical treasures.  Another amazing feat is the star-studded cast featuring Chadwick Boseman (42) as James Brown, Nelsan Ellis (“True Blood”) as Bobby James’s hype man, Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer (The Help) as Aunt Honey and two-time Academy Award nominee Viola Davis as his mother Susie Brown.  It doesn’t end there, as the movie boasts a slew of special cameos appearances.

The film is 138 minutes of enlightenment, history, personal struggles and professional triumphs showcased by one of the hardest working men in show business.

I suggest you wear comfortable shoes and clothes to this movie, because you will “get on up” singing and dancing in your seats.

I give this movie 10 heartbeats.

See you at the concession stand.
