At the North Coast Festival in Chicago over Labor Day weekend, a familiar sight in the photo pit became entirely unfamiliar when an artist, not a dehydrated fan, passed out and was carried out by security. The unfortunate soul: Kid Cudi.
The incident took place during his August 30 performance of the song “Pursuit of Happyness,” where video shows the rapper in the pit, shaking hands and signing autographs. Then, without warning, the musician loses consciousness, falling backwards (fortunately) into the arms of a security guard, who then hoists him up and carries him out of view, to presumably safety. Watch the dramatic scene unfold in the video. Kid Cudi’s fainting spell occurs around the 0:55 mark.
Cudi later unleashed a series of Tweets expressing his gratitude for the well wishes and his general status as being “ok,” blaming a lack of food for the incident. In days that followed, he continued to tweet heartfelt messages about how loved he is and that he’s an “idiot” for not always realizing it.
