WASHINGTON — Rita Ora took the time out of her busy schedule to stop by our D.C. Lottery Live performance space to talk about her debut album, “Ora,” her journey to success and her love life (or lack thereof).
Nearly seven years ago, Ora caught the attention of Jay Z and his label, Roc Nation. She was asked to meet with him in December 2009, and signed with the label within 48 hours of her arrival to the United States — sans attorney and agent.
“I just trusted him, and I’m really glad I did,” Ora tells DJ Tony Redz.
Ora says that her two dearest songs on the album are “No Filter” and “Us.”
There has been some speculation of a relationship between Ora and Wiz Khalifa, but she says her love life is “very dry.” She added that if she were to describe Wiz in a few words, it would be “the dude.”
Ora says that beyond recording in the studio and sleep, she doesn’t have time for much else.
Ora will perform at U Street Music Hall in D.C. Tuesday night.
