‘Hamilton’ Creator Sings with J.J. Abrams to Honor Star Wars Day

By Hayden Wright

Each year, Star Wars devotees turn an easy pun (“May the fourth be with you!”) into a worldwide day of celebration. Yesterday, superfan and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda brought the Force to his daily #Ham4Ham sidewalk performance with a special guest—The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams.

“I had the good pleasure of getting to contribute a song on the latest “Star Wars” movie,” Hamilton said. “I co-wrote it with [Abrams] who is incredible and he is not known as a composer and performer, but he is one and is making his Broadway singing debut on these steps today.”

Together they performed “Jabba Flow,” composed for the cantina scene in the latest installment of the franchise. While the lyrics are in Jabba the Hut’s native Huttese, Miranda provided a translation for the crowd in New York.

“It translates to ‘no lover, lover, it wasn’t me,'” Miranda said. “It’s literally a Shaggy intergalactic remix.”
