Celebrities, they’re just like us! They place bets on sporting events. But when it comes to the amount of money they throw down, things tend to get a bit more expensive than your average wager.
Drake and French Montana had quite the bet riding on the NBA Finals game Sunday (June 19), according to Billboard. Drake ended up losing $60,000 to his friend after betting on the Golden State Warriors. The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated that team 93-89.
Montana recorded a video where he shared details about their agreement. “Shout out to my brother, Drizzy Drake, for that 60 bands ’cause you ain’t believe in LeBron,” he said. To be fair, the Cavs did defeat Drake’s Toronto Raptors to go onto the finals, so it seems unlikely Drake would’ve bet for that team.
Considering Drake has completely obliterated streaming records with his latest album Views (among other records), we’re guessing that’s just a drop in the bucket for the Toronto rapper.
Still, Drake and Montana’s bet is nothing compared to the NCAA bracket Jay-Z was reportedly involved in. He had a $500,000 pool going with Atlantic Records president Mike Kyser.
